This is Regina's story of

her couragous battle with cancer.
REGINA DROVE INTO MEYERS GULF STATION ONE DAY. THIS GOOD LOOKING BLACK HEADED BOY, NAMED GREGG FERGUSON WAITED ON HER. REGINA FELL HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH GREGG. GREGG IGNORED HER.

ONE NIGHT REGINA KNOCKED ON MY DOOR HER LITTLE BROTHERS WERE WITH HER, SHE ASK ME HOW SHE COULD GET GREGG TO NOTICE HER, I TOLD HER YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO LET GREGG KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.

IN DECEMBER GREGG CAME TO MY HOUSE IN MIDWAY FLORIDA AND TOLD ME HE HAD ASKED REGINA TO MARRY HIM.

MARCH 17 , 1990, REGINA AND GREGG BECAME HUSBAND AND WIFE AT KLONDIKE BAPTIST CHURCH IN A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING, WITH A LARGE RECEPTION AFTER THE WEDDING IN THE CHURCH DINING AREA. THEY LEFT FOR KENTUCKY ON THEIR HONEYMOON.

GREGG INTRODUCED HIS NEW BRIDE TO ALL THE FERGUSON AND CASTLE FAMILIES, AND FRIENDS. EVERYONE LOVED REGINA. WITH HER SWEETNESS AND KIND SMILE.

ON APRIL 24.1992 , REGINA GAVE BIRTH TO A BEAUTIFUL BLACK CURLY HEADED DOLL, TAYLOR LEANNE, ON JUNE 8.1993 REGINA GAVE BIRTH TO A BEAUTIFUL BROWN HAIRED BABY BOY, MICHAEL GREGORY.

THEY LIVED IN THEIR NEW MOBILE HOME ON PINE FORREST ROAD. REGINA WENT TO WORK PART TIME AS A CASHIER IN CONVENIENCE STORES, LATER SHE WAS EMPLOYED AT WIN DIXIE SUPER MARKETS GOING UP TO BE FRONT END MANAGER. WHERE SHE WAS LOVED BY ALL EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS.

REGINA WAS ALWAYS HAPPIEST WHEN SHE WAS OUT MOWING ON THE TRACTOR, CLEANING UP AFTER STORMS, SHE WAS A GREAT COOK AND HOME MAKER, HER LIFE WAS BUILT AROUND HER FAMILY.THE BASE BALL GAMES, CHEERLEADERS, AND THE SCHOOL. REGINA ALWAYS CARED FOR THE SICK,

REGINA WAS IN THE YARD SEPTEMBER 2003 WORKING AND PASSED OUT. AFTER TESTS SHE LEARNED SHE HAD AML LEUKEMIA. SHE WENT INTO WEST FLORIDA HOSPITAL FOR CHEMO. LOOSING HER BEAUTIFUL NATURAL CURLY BLACK HAIR. SHE BECAME VERY SICK FROM THE CHIMO.

LATER THEY HAD IT IN REMISSION AND HER WHITE BLOOD CELLS WENT UP. WE ALL HAD HOPES IT WAS IN REMISSION. THEY WANTED HER TO TAKE CHIMO INJECTIONS IN HER SPINE IN CASE ANY CANCER CELLS WERE HIDING IN HER SPINAL FLUIDS.

THEN THE CANCER BLAST STARTED BACK IN HER BLOOD, REGINA FOUGHT A HARD BATTLE. SHE ENDURED THE CHEMO, THE SWEETS SYNDROME, THAT IS A PAINFUL UGLY   DISEASE IN IT SELF, SHE FOUGHT PNEUMONIA, AND WAS SO SICK SHE COULD BARELY EAT FOOD.

REGINA AND ALL OF US WERE ABLE TO ENJOY OUR LAST  THANKSGIVING TOGETHER. SHE WAS HER BOUNCY LITTLE SELF. REGINA HAD HAD A VERY BAD WEIGHT PROBLEM AND HAD THE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY, EARLIER BEFORE THE LEUKEMIA SET IN, SHE LOST ALL THE OBESITY SHE HAD AND WAS A SLIM TRIM 160 LBS.

NEXT TO CHRISTMAS SHE HAD TO GO BACK INTO WEST FLORIDA FOR MORE CHEMO AS HER LEUKEMIA WAS GETTING WORSE.SHE ONCE AGAIN GOT THE SWEETS DISEASE AND WAS REALLY INFECTED  BAD ALL OVER WITH IT. REGINA KEPT THE HOPE SHE WAS GOING TO GET THE BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT THAT WAS WAITING FOR HER.

ON JUNE 18 2004 THEY FLEW HER TO N B ANDERSON CANCER CENTER. SHE GOT TO SPEND A FEW SHORT DAYS IN A HOTEL ROOM WITH HER BELOVED FAMILY. SHE DEVELOPED A FEVER AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE HOSPITAL, SHE HAD DEVELOPED DOUBLE PNEUMONIA. THEY TOLD THEM SHE MIGHT HAVE 10 DAYS AT THE MOST TO LIVE AND SHE DECIDED TO COME HOME. GREGG AND HIS SISTER TERRI DROVE THE VEHICLES AND CHILDREN BACK ON WEDNESDAY. REGINA CAME BACK BY PLANE, RETURNING ON THURSDAY AM WITH HER MOM TO HELP HER.

NO ONE COULD SEE REGINA THAT HAD COLDS OR ANY TYPE OF INFECTION AS HER IMMUNE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I COULD NOT GO SEE HER BUT I TALKED TO HER BY PHONE.ON SUNDAY. I CALLED HER AND SHE WAS CRYING LIKE A BABY. WE TOLD EACH OTHER WE LOVED AND I TOLD HER SHE HAD BEEN SO WONDERFUL TO HAVE IN OUR LIVES. SHE SAID SHE HURT SO BAD, I SAID I KNOW SUGAR BUT GOD IS RIGHT THERE WITH YOU, SHE SAID I KNOW HE IS.

REGINA FOUGHT SO VERY HARD TO LIVE BUT GOD SAW IT WAS BEST FOR HER TO GO WITH HIM. EARLY JULY 13, ASHLEY LYNN WILLIAMS (HER 17 YEAR OLD NEICE )WAS BESIDE HER. THEY GAVE HER A BREATHING TREATMENT AND AFTER ASHLEY WENT TO WIPE HER MOUTH OFF HER FACIAL EXPRESSION CHANGED AND SHE WAS GONE TO BE WITH GOD. HER DAUGHTER AND SEVERAL FAMILY MEMBERS WERE WITH HER AT THE END.

I WOULD HAVE GLADLY WENT IN REGINAS PLACE IF IT HAD BEEN POSSIBLE  FOR ME. JUST BEFORE SHE DIED, I HAD DOZED OFF ONE MORNING AND I FELT LIKE AN ELECTRIC SHOCK HIT ME AND I HEARD THE VOICE OF A  MAN SAY SO PLAINLY  '' I WILL MEET YOU BY THAT BEAUTIFUL RIVER THAT FLOWS BY THE THRONE OF GOD'' AND I SAW REGINA IN HER  CASKET SO I KNEW THE TIME WAS NEAR AT HAND.

REGINA WAS A SUPER EXTRA NICE GOOD LADY, FULL OF LOVE COMPASSION AND FRIENDSHIP. SHE HATED TO SEE ANYONE HURTING, SHE LOVED TO SING IN CHURCH, SHE AND MY DAUGHTER TERRI WERE SISTER IN LAWS BUT CLOSER THAN ANY SISTERS COULD BE. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU REGINA DIANNE AND WE WILL NEVER CEASE LOVING YOU.

THE FAMILY OF GREGG AND REGINA FERGUSON

In this life, the Lord does not want us to only to be concerned about ourselves, and look out for number one, but to take an interest in others as well.  We are to pray without ceasing for others that the grace of God may befall them, and we will be blessed.

love SHIRLEY ANNE
